I have produced a "proof of concept" hurd installation CD and have managed to install the tarball on a bare machine.
When booting with the grub floppy every thing goes well until I get to ./native-install and fiddle as I may I can get no further. The result is the same if the tarball has been unpacked on /gnu or / Any ideas or hints? Please remember that this CD project is the first contact I have had with the hurd. The test machine is an AMD K5 with 32 MB RAM. Some feedback about how useful a hurd installation CD might be to the hurd community would be useful. There is still a considerable amout of work to be done on the disc. Phil. - Philip Charles; 39a Paterson St., Abbotsford, New Zealand; +64 3 4882818 Mobile 025 267 9420. I sell GNU/Linux CDs.
