-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi,
I fear I'm having the same problem as Florian Zimmermann reported previously. I've installed gnu-20000301.tar.gz (from the alpha.gnu.org site) on a ext2fs partition called sdc2 (Linux nomenclature) or sd2s2 (Mach nomenclature). I used mke2fs from Debian 2.2 with the "-O sparse_super -o hurd" options. This tarball worked perfectly, and most of my hardware was detected properly. I then upgraded via dselect to gnumach_1.2-5.deb, hurd_20000803.deb and grub_0.5.95.deb (all from ftp.de.debian.org), and this results in an error at boot time, just after the partitions are detected. It says "root device sd2s2 does not exist!". Note that gnumach+hurd from the initial tarball had no problems with this root device. Could this be a bug which has crept into gnumach_1.2-5.deb or hurd_20000803.deb, or maybe I'm not supposed to upgrade gnumach+hurd via dselect? Or am I using a broken version of mke2fs?
