It turned out that the latest binutils is fine again, I've uploaded that now, and put glibc_2.6.1-1 packages (libc0.3, libc0.3-dev, libc0.3-dbg for now) up at deb http://people.debian.org/~mbanck/hurd-glibc/ ./ to test. Note that you might get General Protection Traps from gnumach on heavy load, extract and copy over the latest gnumach.gz from the i386 gnumach package, wait for a soon-to-be upload of the latest gnumach package on hurd-i386, or get Olaf's patches gnumach package.
