The reason that crosshurd choses packages consistently from unreleased is because packages in unreleased are given a blanket higher priority in preferences. A pkgcache.bin is not built which means that duplicate packages are not examined individually.
The best solution for everyone would be to immediately remove the unreleased package once a replacement has entered sid. A manual fix is to remove the reference to the package from Packages(.gz) in unreleased. The investigation is continuing.
