I agree more explanation of what each of those architecture ISOs on netinst web page, applies to would be very helpful. I created a quick mockup page by adding some guidance on architecture to the netinst page - <http://gonehiking.org/netinst.html>. Would something like this work?
ISO name has traditionally been tied to the name of architecture in Debian archives. Intel em64 was named amd64 in debian for better or worse. I don't mind seeing ISO name decoupled from architecture name but it might be easier to simply change the name of link to something like amd-intel64 and let ISO still be called amd64-netinst.iso. -- Khalid On Sat, 2008-09-06 at 10:53 +0200, Steffen Bode wrote: > why can't debian.org rename the amd64 iso to amd-intel64.iso ? > i think it is a clearly link name and this should be to avoid also > downloading the incorrect image and check out the bootmessage in a > second step... > > on this page: http://www.debian.org/distrib/netinst > i miss realy a information about : which image for which architecture, > ok most of the links are self-explanatory, except the intel em64 (amd64) > iso. > > Steffen > > > Am Freitag, den 05.09.2008, 10:28 -0600 schrieb Khalid Aziz: > > On Fri, 2008-09-05 at 10:20 -0600, dann frazier wrote: > > > On Fri, Sep 05, 2008 at 10:11:52AM -0600, Khalid Aziz wrote: > > > > On Fri, 2008-09-05 at 09:45 -0600, dann frazier wrote: > > > > > On Fri, Sep 05, 2008 at 02:25:31PM +0400, Paul A.
