Dieri che hai visto male. Io uso mutt e non ho installato postfix ma exim.
In realtà con mutt serve appunto avere un MTA, poi che sia postfix o
exim o altro ancora poco cambia.
Per usare un smtp esterno occorre configurare l'MTA.
Con exim ora mi sfugge, ma mi pare sia semplice.
Con postfix basta inserire il parametro relayhost = $nomeserversmtp in
/etc/postfix/main.cf e fare un /etc/init.d/postfix reload
Postfix può anche essere configurato (ma sicuramente anche Exim) per
utilizzare relayhost smtp con autenticazione
