Hi again, Before (or in case) anyone spends any time on this, it's possible that it has gone away (it has temporarily anyway). I was looking around in /var/tmp, and after doing 'ls -l' on a few folders, my problem magically disappeared! In particular there are a few strange folders there:
/var/tmp/fileeuANak/ It contains over 8000 folders, each one a Debian package name, each containing a file of the same name with what looks like dpkg info for the package. /var/tmp/kdecache-lukelIRTdF/ My user name is luke, so there is a /var/tmp/kdecache-luke folder, but also this strange one, which looks like an old copy of the kdecache-luke folder. Does anyone know what these are, and if it is safe to delete them? Cheers, Luke -- "Humiliation: The harder you try, the dumber you look."
