I should point out that I - if memory serves - the problems started with an update of Akonadi from 1.6.2 to 1.7.2. So I should perhaps have written that Akonadi and KMail don't seem to agree on something (?) On a related, can you perhaps try to reproduce the problem? The easiest way to test as far as I know is to create a distribution list, say, "foo". Then, when attempting to send an e-mail to the members of this list, KMail will attempt to send an e-mail to "foo@localhost". At least this is what is happening here in my Debian/unstable setting.
