fix for the powerpc problem

Hi folks

We should finaly find a fix for the powerpc problem with 2.6.16: the
images does not support apus/prep.

Possible solutions for apus
- port patch with ARCH=ppc and hack k-p so support ARCH=ppc again,
- port patch with ARCH=powerpc or
- forget it.

Possible solutions for prep
- hack k-p so support ARCH=ppc again and build another image or
- forget it.
