Severity: serious [ the system will not boot ]
Symptoms: boot fails almost immediately.
Using synaptic, the kernel was upgraded. I ran `lilo' with the usual gang of
warnings.
I then rebooted, straight into the crash.

HP G72 laptop, Intel i3 M350 (2.266GHz), 4GB ram, 500GB disk
partititions:
sda1: 203MB NTFS boot
sda2: 70GB NTFS
sda3: 17GB NTFS
sda4: extended
sda5: 117MB FAT32
sda6: 8GB swap
sda7: 31GB /
sda8: 73GB /home
sda9: 287GB /archive
normally runs KDE with 12 desktops
Since the system cannot run, more detailed info is very difficult to supply.
I am presently using my "standby" desktop using the previous version of
Debian with a 2.6.28-2-686 kernel. I can run the laptop using a live CD;
the laptop disc is still readable and can be accessed from the live CD system.
I will try to supply you with any further info that you may require.
How can I get back to the previous kernel suite?
