Can you not run the second stage using qemu-ppc64le-static (or whatever
it's called)?
Stepping back a bit, to the original point of this discussion, which are
some config options specifically for running qemu-kvm w/out an initrd..
Given the points/suggestions mentioned, those options would suit only a
very particular case, which probably doesn't justify keeping them in.
