Hi, goobox does indeed work very well. I am a bit surprised though. The sound card Intel High Definition Audio (ICH7 chipset) is an "onboard" sound card. So I don't see why there should be this issue of "cabling". Should I talk to Dell support ? I would like to avoid it because the first thing I did after I got the laptop was to delete WindowsXP. And I am pretty sure the first thing they will tell me when I report my problem is that they don't support linux (essentially blaming the problem on linux).
