The issue is to give recipients the full freedom. And I don't see which part of this issue doesn't apply to essays, regarding Debians position. (I do, however, publish parts of my essays under a non-free license. But I don't ask Debian then to include them in main, and they've a very destinct audience where it is more usefull to work with other licenses - that also gives the freedom to any recipient to use my ideas, and words, but not in a way that Debian would consider as free.)
