Sir: I value your efforts greatly. Just a day or two I installed using 
debian-live-9.1.0-amd64-mate+nonfree.iso
It was very comforting to be able to see that Mate is properly 
implemented and Functional.
I am very happy with the install. Thank You.

I am not more than a End User so I can't help with code.
However I hereby volunteer to be a tester.
