You just gave me a new year's gift! It was so important to observe the ff-0f pattern in the hexdump which I had missed. Yes, it's now closer to a real X ray. The Dr still sees some problems, but I think it will need some experiments with exposure, brightness and contrast. I don't think there is any software issue left.
