Quite old? Some Months :-))

I installed Debian at the 2th of August 2004. Between this date and now
I updated sometimes
but didnt reinstall the system because it did work fine for me :-))
But its a good information that the default.colo has to be edited in a
future installation

debian-installer would hard code the kernel name and since you were
still running 2.4.26 I thought your installation might be quite old.
