I did apt-get install perl and this upgraded a bunch of perl-5.004 packages. Then I did apt-get install perl-5.005 . This time, apt decided to install both perl-5.005 , and perl-5.005-base. Unfortunatley, I didn't notice that it was going to remove all of the packages that depend on perl. It removed 20 or so before I noticed and stopped it. Unfortunately, I need some of these packages, and I don't have an extra machine to play with. Sorry I can't help testing further.
