Actually, RMS is concerned about the _GNU_TYPEs (and _GNU_SYSTEM of course), nothing else. Note that the Debian arch names don't even have "linux" in them, they are i386 and hurd-i386, which is bad enough :) Anyway, this can be rectified when arch handling is reworked in dpkg.
