        You may need to hexedit (use Emacs for that) the floppy's
        System file with the root device of your install (specifying
        "root=<major_number><minor_number>"). Don't forget to copy the
        System file back to the floppy after you edit that with your
        desired parameter.

        You may also specify this "root=xxxx" option hardcoded in the
        kernel, with an option that I don't remember, but I tend to
        prefer to specify the root device in the floppy.

        Don't forget to install the System.map file or some programs
        will complain. While you're at it, don't forget to copy the
        kernel .config file to a safe place.
