Did you verify that it is actually using the proper version? You need to make sure 100% that this version fixes it while the libffi.so.8.1.0 from the Debian package causes the crash. Also, can you check whether passing "--disable-exec-static-tramp" makes a difference? We need to find out why the Debian package causes SIGILL and we still don't know why. It gets particularly strange when the issue cannot be reproduced with the upstream source. Adrian -- .''`.
