Odd. I was just looking at the package trying to debug the sparc64 FTBFS and I saw it. Must have been an older version.

No. ceph works on ppc64el, so please don't touch it.
I know nothing about variants of powerpc. And I don't see buildds in Debian doing builds for ppc64el. At least it is not shown on usual build status pages. What exactly is failing for you?
