The problem of rsync needing all directory info in memory at once was one of the reasons for the invention of its successor, rdiff. Have a look at the Debian packages "rdiff" and "rdiff-backup". I haven't played with "rdiff" but believe it works on single files, whereas "rdiff-backup" although primarily used for maintaining multiple snapshots of an archive is also usable for single shots, and handles memory nicely. - Jonas - -- * Jonas Smedegaard - idealist og Internet-arkitekt * Tlf.: +45 40843136 Website: http://dr.jones.dk/ - Enden er nÃr: http://www.shibumi.org/eoti.htm -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFCbp3vn7DbMsAkQLgRAhEcAKCTXgNPCsa083ZAPQmU9eeFKLInrQCgg60J Xf6SC4JUbaGf4yyyxi56lao= =VnBZ -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
