As you can see, there certainly *was* a libffi in Debian, and the
current libffi packages should declare appropriate
conflicts/replaces/whatevers with it. But I'm not sure the exact
right bug to file or which packages.

According to

for example, libffi is a Debian package.

Perhaps the current libffi's need to conflict with the old ones?
As I said, this may not be a gnucash issue, but I think reassigning
rather than closing would be better.
