Current 4.3.99.2 in sid isn't suitable for Etch. In testing there is currently 4.3.99.1 which won't have Debian splash screen but works correctly. Eventually I'm fine with 4.3.99.1-1 in Etch, I may prepare a 4.3.99.1-2 for tpu but there are things I need to think about so everything works correctly with and without desktop-base.
