A new upstream version of tzdata, 2025b, has been released with a new
timezone for a region of Chile, that will diverge from the current
timezone on 2025-04-05.
[ Impact ]
Some users will have the wrong time on their system.
[ Tests ]
There are no automated test for these changes.
[ Risks ]
The risk to import new upstream versions of tzdata are quite low, and is
done routinely. In addition the changes in this new upstream are really
limited, and with the exception of documentation only touches the
Asia/Tehran zone for the year 1978, and adds the new America/Coyhaique
zone.
This version has been uploaded in unstable 3 days ago, and just moved to
testing with all autopkgtest passing. No issue have been reported.

The changes consist of the upstream changes for the Asia/Tehran and
America/Coyhaique zones, plus debconf template changes for the new
timezone, for which we currently have no updated translation. That said
a quick look at Wikipedia shows that the Chilean name is taken as is, or
with minor typographic changes, in most Latin alphabet-based languages.

archive. In addition this will require a SUA given the new timezone will
