Out of the 48 menu entries on my system, two use it, which is pretty good given the basic rarity of needing to run a program as root. More to the point, while it may be infrequent compared to the total number of packages in Debian, I believe every system with GNOME or KDE installed has a few menu entries that need to run a program as root. So it's worthwhile figuring out a standardized way of doing this. The people working on live CDs have specifically asked that su-to-root be used instead of any of the other wrappers because they can configure su-to-root to use sudo, unlike the other wrapper programs. So lintian currently warns about using any other wrapper. -- Russ Allbery ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) <http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/> -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
