Your configuration looks OK...can you run fdisk -l on the disk from a working instance and check the partitions? Is partition 1 the root filesystem? What kind of filesystem is on it? Are you able to mount it from the working image? Are you using the Debian packaged 2.4.17 kernel? -- - mdz
