Sounds like that AMD has totally no ambition in scientific computing. Well, non-free blobs (e.g. mkl, cuda) continue dominating this field. I asked Intel about open-sourcing mkl in the past and it seems too hard to achieve due to historical reasons. However a new mkl component, mkl-dnn is released under Apache-2 .
