I think it might be a little more complicated than what's below (?) > > Hello everyone, > > > > > > after an afternoon fighting with my ethernet card I have finally solved >my > > problems with it (I hope... :-( ) > > > > I have installed ssh but can't log into a machine. the strange thing is >that > > I can if I try from a Windows PC using PuTTY. > > > > I presume it is a question of ssh configuration... how do I go about it? > > > >Probably ssh usage try connecting with > >ssh -1 <hostname> > >Debains default is v.2 protocol, if you try to connect to a v.1 server >you can t
first o fall which ssh should I install? ssh or Openssh? any practical difference? as oppoesed to ideological difference??? Next, indipendently of which package I install when I type ssh -v I am told that I am using ssh version 1.x with protocol 1.5 whereas the remote host is running ssh 3.0.1 (non-commercial) with protocol 2.0 So what is the story ?? I would have imagined protocol 2.0 would have been backward compatible... maybe increasing security meant decreasing retro-compatibility??? Anyway, my problem remains, I cannot connect to the remote host from Linux... Thanks a lot for all your help, Gianguido PS: all the hep I have been getting over the last few days... amazing, utopic almost :-) _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
