Fair enough. I only got as far as playing with the Debian 2.4 kernels and finding out that the ones labeled sun4cdm weren't quite. I wish I had the time to devote to this problem but alas at the moment I haven't. As I see it it's only really kernel hacking that needs to be done and most of the drivers, etc. are already done.
