It might not find either, from my subsequent experiment. I decided I didn't need no cdrom installer, and went back to lenny's network installer. Installed lenny in a small partition, upgraded to squeeze then wheezy, so far so good. Then used 'multistrap' to install Sid on a different, larger partition; then used chroot to add the various packages needed (kernel and so on) for self-hosting. After some trials-and-error, I have a booting, self-hosted Sid/Sparc64 :-) However - I have an issue where the kernel 4.3.0 doesn't find the disks. Silo works fine, but it seems the driver is not loaded. So it drops me in the initramfs shell, I modprobe sun_esp, then everything works fine. Can't figure out what's wrong (I did add sun_esp to /etc/modules and rebuilt the initrd, but no luck). Perhaps the same issue is affecting the installer? Anyway great job everyone - install is a bit rough, but so far everything is good. Next step, getting X to work on the FFB... Cordially, -- Romain Dolbeau
