"Did not work" as in "everything blew up", or as in "the framebuffer didn't start, but I got a menu anyway"? You're seriously not giving us many details here.

Sorry for not being very detailed: Framebuffer did not work, but I got a menu, so if the pcnet32 driver would have been on the installation CD, I probably could have finished the installation.
