Hi,

got a problem ...

My 'testing' box is the dns server (bind9) and nat-gateway
for the rest of the lan. All external hosts resolv fine through dns
and I'm able to ping them ...

My 'testing' box is unable to ping/ftp any host on the lan,
unless I place the appropriate entry in /etc/hosts.
The other boxes, 'stable','mandrake-9','w2k', etc can ping/ftp
the testing box, (and each other) and use the same dns, with
no /etc/hosts to resolve it, just the dns.

On the testing box I cannot even start /etc/init.d/proftpd unless I
have the entry for the host in /etc/hosts

However, I can even telnet to the testing box from it.

Seems to me some sort of libresolv issue or weird nat thing????

Any ideas greatly appreciated. I'll be glad to provide more info if required.

PS: this was all working fine just a day or so ago before my last
    upgrade.
