Herbert, I apologize, I think you were right. According to Debian-testing group, the following kernel/rescue disk seems to work quite well.
Karl, I'd like to provide your rescue image in the Debian archive proper (i.e., dists/stable/disks-i386/current/aha/ ?). Should we just grab your rescue image?
