Hi, just wanted to mention that the fix for the boot record is the usual
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda count=422 and then running lilo again. Also, the only remaining item for the machine to be usable is a X driver for the Compaq QVision (weird Matrox chip) which is not available. Still, the machine is usable. The current 2.2 disks still don't boot successfully on the machine. I still get an Oops. Just to make you feel better RedHat's 6.1 installer disk does the same so it might well be a kernel issue with the AMD SCSI chipset.
