Debian "unstable" sempre é nomeada "Sid". Isso nunca muda. "Sid" nunca será lançada.
Debian "testing" muda. "Woody" foi "testing" durante um tempo, e passou para "stable" quando foi lançada. A Debian testing no momento chama-se "Sarge". Números de versão são atribuídos quando uma distribuição passa de "testing" para "stable" (ou seja, é lançada). Debian "stable" se refere a distribuição estável mais atual. No momento, é "Woody (3.0)". Será "Woody (3.0r1)" em breve. As distribuições estáveis antigas continuam estáveis (afinal de contas, não serão mais alteradas...), mas não são chamadas "Debian stable" :) -- "One disk to rule them all, One disk to find them.
