I`ve seen another thread here `11g PCI Wireless recommendations` which probably has the info I need -- if only I understood. I have never even used a wifi connected laptop, so all the terminology is a bit strange to me.
We are planning to move soon, and I think it would be more logical to install a wireless network, and avoid having to repeat the miles of cat5 cabling that I installed here. So I`m asking for guidance where to begin. We have around 3-6 computers on our ethernet (plus firewall) and three printers (which are currently attached to different computers, but could perhaps be on ethernet adapters?). Watford Electronics just sent me a promotion for a Netgear router and free PC card, offering the DG834G Wireless ADSL Firewall Router From Netgear with a WG511TGE card. I have a few weeks before I need to act, but looking at the spec, it sounds as though it might be the kind of thing I need (together with some PCI cards for the workstations). But I have no idea if there is a better way to start. I do have an ADSL router/modem already, though it is a few years old, so I guess an alternative is to take it to the new place and add the wireless bit after it. I find quite attractive the idea of an integrated firewall -- to save running another box. BTW, the URL for the DG834G mentioned above is this: http://www.savastore.com/products/product.asp?catalog_name=Savastore&product_id=10276004&pid=45&tid=240 Advice?
