When I try to install a stock Debian kernel (2.6-386) on my system, it won't boot any longer (VFS: Unable to mount root fs). The stock 2.2 kernel that comes with Woody rescue disk boots fine.
As far as I can tell, it's because the 2.6 kernel is compiled with IDE as a module instead of including it in the kernel proper. Is there something I still need to do to allow this module to be loaded? Thanks!
