Dear Michael:

I just did this yesterday and back in the newsgroup are a series of
exchanges
with the subject 'starting x'.

Here is the gist of what I did from command line to a KDE logon last
night.

apt-get install x-window-system
apt-get install kde kdevelop kdelibs kdebase

At that point, I had a KDE logon.

I am still searching for the knowledge to change back and forth twixt
Gnome
and KDE with Debian and the knowldege to run X remotely from one of my other
computers.

I can logon to the new Debian box with 'ssh -X xx.xx.xx.xx', but when I
run
kwrite, I get the message 'cannot connect to X server', even though I ran
'xhost +localhost' on the new Debian computer and rebooted it.
