well, it occurs to me that my "connect" option should just run "chat", not "pppd connect "chat ..."", so I've fixed this (although not tested yet). Still unsure about the gateway problem; I guess it might be fixed (since nobody was setting a default route last time, since diald didn't think we'd connected) but I'm not sure.
