Matlab is supported only my The Mathworks (I think that's the name of the company that makes Matlab). I have it installed on a Debian 1.3 machine. It has its own installation program which will allow you to easily install it in /usr/local where IMHO it belongs. It seems relatively stable on that machine, but we've yet to use it other than the demos (only had it for one month). Our University site license allows us to lease it for $125/year. Your price may vary--I think a single machine commercial license is about $1800 to purchase. Good Luck.
