Right, but under Debian in.talkd is a symlink to in.ntalkd: sxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Mar 3 20:29 /usr/sbin/in.talkd -> in.ntalkd* I've heard the problem has something to do with byte ordering (little vs. big endian) in Sun's implementation; their implementation of talk is buggy.
