However xvidtune alters the video card and the monitor settings alter the monitor. Using xvidtune I can boost the refresh rate, but above a certain point the screen starts to shrink in width. So to get the highest refresh rate, I use the monitor settings to make the screen really wide and then alter the modelines until the screen just fits in.
