I have been playing with xdm's setup to get xbanner working. In the course of this I found that Xsetup_0 and Xstartup_0 are not being run when xdm starts. I think that the reason is that the display name is `linda:0.0' instead of just `:0.0' but I don't know where that is being set or why xdm doesn't know that this machine is called linda.
