Hi folks, Due to an extreme amount of idiocy at the place where I work, I have need to modify the /bin/login program so that instead of displaying this --
adler login: it will display this -- login: I have looked through the /etc/login.defs file but can see no options to eliminate displaying of the hostname. If someone knows how to eliminate displaying of the hostname through something like /etc/login.defs or a flag passed to the login executable, I'd love to hear about it... if not... well... my next question: Just where in the Aitch-Ee-Double-Hockey-Sticks is source code for /bin/login???? Under hamm one can find the binary *package* for /bin/login under base, something like base/login_983434.deb... but looking under the base/ directory in the hamm source code directory/ yields *no* such corresponding package! Am I completely missing something? I can't find it anywhere! And it's driving me mad! Note to all systems administrators -- fights over nomenclature are *stupid*. Avoid at all costs. TIA, adr
