In a mixed NT/Linux environment, I found that using a WINS server (and configuring it into smb.conf) makes my Linux servers show up immediately for all TCP/IP-ready Windoze boxen. Of course, if (when - it was NT) the WINS box crashes and is rebooted, the Linux servers aren't visible until samba is restarted. I'd bet in a non-NT environment, merely enabling wins support in smb.conf and configuring said WINS server into Winders should at least help the visibility of the server. YMMV. Pete -- Peter J.
