I installed the debian package for the shareware quake. The X version works fine, but when I try to run the svgalib version I get the following:

UDP Initialized Exe: 15:28:15 Aug 7 1997 8.0 megabyte heap PackFile: ./id1/pak0.pak : gfx/palette.lmp PackFile: ./id1/pak0.pak : gfx/colormap.lmp svgalib: Cannot get I/O permissions. Then I'm back at the prompt. I don't know if this is a squake problem or a svgalib problem. The only other svgalib program I use, on occasion, is zgv. It also seems to work fine. Jeff Jones
