I would have guessed that the "Connection failed" is caused by exim not listening to the smtp port. Does "telnet localhost smtp" give you the greeting? What does you .fetchmailrc look like? Do you have the "is s2193893 here" part in there? SZ> strange thing is I don't even know where is this "shao" come from! See the first line of the fetchmail message?
