gnomecard doesn't load card file

Can someone please explain to me how to get gnomecard to load up the
card file after it's been created?  It gets saved in
.gnome/GnomeCard.gcrd, but I cannot get gnomecard to load the file.
Even starting gnomecard from the .gnome directory and explicitly
telling it to load the right file still produces an error.
