Well, the install sets that entry in the distant past (a few days in my case, perhaps months behind in other's cases....) but it seems non-intuitive for the error message to not include the HOSTNAME that it is trying to lookup -- I feel a bit wierd submitting a bugreport for such a silly little problem, but a private email shows that I am not the first to have experienced this little suprise. :) > > And, a more applicable-to-the-future question -- how can I view the > > postrm and prerm and postinst and preinst scripts of a deb? :) > > They're in /var/lib/dpkg/info. Exactly what I was wanting to see the other day when the install died. :) > IIRC if there's an error in the preinst, you'll get an error while > unpacking and the script won't be saved. This package management dealy is much nicer than others I have tried. :) (all that, and the user support is wonderful! :) > - -- > finger for PGP public key. > > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- > Version: 2.6.3ia > Charset: noconv > > iQCVAwUBN9HJir7M/9WKZLW5AQHMbgP+N1rV/ms75h64XOYlBKzK+77o03NCSv6g > E+P6lv59xeLdih3D3jP+c7Cx0N2sFqPsCdB1G6Y/myQTC3sKmAgtmdCjnHgQkzoJ > RkiHpMzRLkhqGP5wswVcmaik6z7zDMEX2JPxT2JMwWbV8T0odXN6Fua/QWoxmNdV > e6kqZAC0PRU= > =d/4/ > -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- > > > -- > Unsubscribe? mail -s unsubscribe [EMAIL PROTECTED] < /dev/null -- Seth Arnold | http://www.willamette.edu/~sarnold/ Hate spam?
